Koh Chang may not have the name that Phuket, Samui or Pattaya does in Thailand, but it is slowly growing as a destination. Plenty of quiet islands and beaches, some more basic than others, but then again, that’s part of the attraction.
Koh Chang is the second largest island in the Kingdom of Thailand (hence the name referring to the Thai for elephant) and is actually the largest island in a 52 island group referred to as the Koh Chang Marine Park. Only 4-5 hours from Bangkok it’s also possible to visit for a long weekend.
There’s a couple of different groups that do Sailing Charters down here, Sunsail is on, gulf charter is another and a third is sail connections, however, the time I went we found a small operator, by the name of Frank, he had two boats and was a perfect gentleman, well priced, excellent sailor and good company.
You can try to contact him by ringing the restaurant on this website. http://www.kohchangsalakphet.com/
