I discovered this webpage from the BBC, in celebration of the Queen’s 60th year as a monach. (I must admit I didn’t realise how well traveled she was.) Have you been where the queen has been? I’ve only managed a paltry 23 of her 113 countries! The Queen has purple dots, mine are the yellow ones.

I haven’t done anywhere near as much travel as you, but my boyfriend/partner has. He’s been to places you haven’t been, and you to places he hasn’t. But you’ve been to a lot of the same places too! I expect plenty of beers will be had! Haha

lol @ the big white north! Vancouver is the big rainy mild north — otherwise it’s beautiful. I actually got slightly smacked by the sun today. 😉
haha – OK, point taken! 🙂 You’ll have to forgive me, being Australian the only images I have of Canada may be somewhat skewed, you guys do have electricity, don’t you?
LOL There are definitely parts of Canada that fit the world’s image of us. Namely, the arctic. There are also parts that have ridiculously cold winters and insanely hot humid summers (The East). That’s why most people come to Vancouver – and why it’s about as affordable to buy a home here as it is in parts of Australia. Where I live, I am surrounded by beaches, parks and the city. It is so very green and fresh and perfect for anyone who likes to be outdoors. A 20 minute drive from downtown can take you to some amazing hiking trails – and 40 minutes will take you to great skiing (in the winter months). I think one of my upcoming posts in my 30 day challenge is about things I love about my city. I’ll be sure to have it full of pictures. 🙂 Cheers!

It is laughable really, I have been to London (have family there)Scotland, France, South and Southwest Africa, but that’s it. I am in awe of your travels Pak, keep the pics coming, I am thoroughly enjoying them. As soon as I complete my next jaunt, I will share.
It’s not laughable, I’ve met people that have been in many more countries than I have, but perhaps have not had the same quality or depth of experiences. It’s not a competition so much as a journey or an exploration. (and as I said I have not been to Africa yet, something I would love to do, but the sheer enormity of that continent is mind boggling.)
When I said laughable, it was meant as, amazing how many places so few of us have seen. Not at all intending to sound like it was a competition by any stretch, sorry for the miscommunication. I appreciate any place I travel, I consider them extensions of my education. I am off to Georgia(US) tomorrow for 5 days, so I may not be blogging quite as much, speak soon.

I just counted up….I’ve managed 40 countries on 5 continents, so I have a long way yet to go! Haven’t been to Southeast Asia or Australia at all…..looking forward to my eventual visits!

I’ve visited 18 of the 113 – many in the Caribbean. Your list is impressive!
But I’ve not made it to the Caribbean yet, I had some friends who taught at an International School there for a few years, but unfortunately they left before I had a chance to visit.

It’s got everything, from a mini “Niagara Falls” in the north, to snow in the central area, to sand dunes in the south. The fruits and veggies are plentiful, and the people are quite friendly. We have lived here for more than 20 years. There are so many natural wonders here. We traveled the entire time the children were growing up. So, let us know when you plan on coming here.

Such a cool site you have here! Because of this I went to try out the BBC page too. I have only been to 36. 🙂 Some of the places was not on the list though. But it is fun to know that there is so much more of the world to see either through my eyes or yours! Looking forward to more travel tid bits!

Bhutan for one. Do cities count? Teotihuacan, Cholula…but the Queen has been to other places I have not. 🙂
Wow, what was Bhutan like? Is it similar to Nepal? I guess for me I figured they were similar but the visa cost of Bhutan made me choose Nepal instead.
The only place I have been to in Nepal is only Kathmandu and I didn’t spend a lot of time there so I can’t say. I blogged about Bhutan in my old blog here http://mouseytong.multiply.com/photos/album/86/Bhutan-Land-of-the-Dragons. I was fortunate enough to have friends there who invited me for their wedding, so I didn’t have to pay for the daily visa.

Such an important comment, oft I find that visiting one place for a long time is better than visiting three quickly, the reason is that a quick traveler or a bunch of travelers stuck in a bush will only brush the surface of possibilities.
Many of my greatest travels and experiences have been unplanned ones because we were drifting around talking with people not particularly rushing somewhere else and an opportunity arose or some street life occured in front of me.
You also raise the concept of ethic traveling, more difficult but possibly more important. 🙂
I’d love that many dots!! but for now I’m concentrating as getting as many as possible in one country……there is a lot of Australia to fill so I could be some time….. 🙂

Yeah, but it should be about quality, not just mere quantity, the actual website I found this country list was a travel website with loads of people boasting that they’d visited 100 countries!!! (They even had dinky little badges and keyrings on sale for said milestone)
Until you see that they listed each island in Indonesia, Greece, Australia, etc as separate countries, and all over the world. They also counted a country if they were on a plane that just landed in transit, even if they never left the airport. To me, that’s not right.
I agree with that..if you see Paris only-would that count you have seen France?? I think you should spend minimum 2 weeks and cover 3-4 cities/regions etc to be able to say that you have actually been to that country..
